Southern States Insurance Exchange was founded in 1953 by Southern States Cooperative for the purpose of insuring the cooperative and other businesses that support American agriculture. It insures agricultural cooperatives, feed mills, farm supply stores, and other agribusinesses in Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Exchange writes business owners policies, property, workers compensation, crime, auto, general liability, and umbrella liability coverages. Bonds, directors and officers liability, cotton floaters, pollution liability, flood, and other coverages not written by the Exchange are made available through its agency, SSC Insurance Agency, to provide its members with the full range of commercial property and casualty insurance products.
